A microencapsulated aluminum chelate type latent hardener which is improved in latency and rapid-curing properties even when a silane coupling agent is used in a reduced amount. It is a latent hardener comprising: a porous resin obtained by subjecting a polyfunctional isocyanate compound to interfacial polymerization in the presence of a crosslinking agent; and an aluminum-chelating agent and colloidal silica which are held in the porous resin. This latent hardener is produced by mixing an aluminum-chelating agent, colloidal silica, a polyfunctional isocyanate compound, and a crosslinking agent with a volatile organic solvent, introducing this liquid mixture into an aqueous phase containing a dispersant, and heating the resultant mixture with stirring to conduct interfacial polymerization. |
