An image signal processing apparatus (1) is provided with a delaying section (10), a motion detecting section (20), an intermediate frame generating section (30) and an output section (40). The motion detecting section (20) detects motion of a second frame image to a first frame image, based on first frame image data (G1) outputted from the delaying section (10) and a second frame image data (G2) inputted to the delaying section (10). The intermediate frame generating section (30) generates intermediate frame image data (GC), based on the first frame and the second frame image data (G1, G2). An intermediate frame image edge (EC) is positioned between first and second frame image edges (E1, E2). The output section (40) inserts the intermediate frame image data (GC) before the second frame image data (G2) and outputs the both data.
