In a structure in which the gear train (5, 6) of a developer replenishing container (1) is locked by a lock member (7), and the set rotation of the developer replenishing container (1) is automated when the gear train (5, 6) receives a driving force from the gear (12) of a developer receiving device, the set rotation of the developer replenishing container (1) is not permitted when the releasing protrusion (5a) of the gear (5) is positioned to interfere with the lock member (7). Such an arrangement is made that the gear (5) is rotated when the engaging portion (5d) of the gear (5) strikes the engaging portion (13a) of the developer receiving device (10) following the insertion operation of the developer replenishing container (1) to effect locking by the lock member (7). Therefore, since the gear train (5, 6) is locked by the lock member (7) upon completion of insertion of the developer replenishing container (1), a proper set rotation of the developer replenishing container (1) is permitted. |
