<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bidiretionally transmit data between two apparatuses at low cost in an AV system connected by HDMI. <P>SOLUTION: An audio amplifier apparatus 2 which is an HDMI source and a display apparatus which is an HDMI sink are connected by an auxiliary transmission line by IEEE1394 or the like, and the auxiliary transmission line is used for transmitting data received from the other apparatus through the HDMI by the display apparatus 3 to the audio amplifier apparatus 2. Then, the display apparatus 3 generates CTS by a clock regenerated by ACR and a TMDS clock received from the audio amplifier apparatus 2 through the HDMI, and transmits it through the auxiliary transmission line together with a frequency division ratio value N.
