<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for predicting the onset risk of age-related macular degeneration, and to provide a method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: It is found that an AMD susceptibility gene includes an ANKRD38 (ankyrin repeat domain 38) gene, an XRCC4 (X-ray repair complementing defective repair in Chinese hamster cells 4) gene, a TRIM29 (tripartite motif-containing 29) gene, a CHST11 (carbohydrate sulfotransferase 11) gene and an IBSP (integrin-binding sialoprotein) gene. The system for estimating the onset risk of age-related macular degeneration is provided. The estimation system comprises a means for typing the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of the AMD susceptibility gene in a test sample and inputting the result, a means for setting the SNP, associated with susceptibility of age-related macular degeneration, and a means for determining whether the test sample is susceptibility, based on the typing result and the setting. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
