PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plurality of intracavitary segments linked axially with a fiber bridge. SOLUTION: The intracavitary segments may be either balloon-expandable or self expanding. In the preferable embodiment, it is made of superelastic Nitinol. Tubular intracavitary segments 100 may have a textured surface or at least one geometric feature per segment. The geometric features are preferably arrayed at the tips of support pairs making up the respective tubular intracavitary segments and preferably, can each act as an anchoring point of the fiber bridge 102. The geometric features may allow the transmission of an axial compression load when installed being extended from a device such as a catheter. Moreover, it may be possible to get the intracavitary segments piled up when they are pressurized within the device such as a catheter. Fibers 101 containing the bridge 102 may be made of a polymer, silk, collagen or a bioabsorbable material or a mixture of them. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
