<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device for preventing visibility of a display video from being deteriorated due to reflection of a background, and allowing a user to view a high-quality video image. <P>SOLUTION: In the video display device which displays a predetermined video image on a display screen, user's position is detected based on a first picked-up image obtained by a first imaging means, so as to specify a background area recognized by the user by being reflected on the display screen based on the detected user's position.
