PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virus separator by which a virus-containing liquid component obtained by condensing water vapor included in exhalation of a virus-infected patient can be simply and securely separated from an absorbent to which the liquid component has been absorbed and the separated virus is supplied as a specimen for diagnosis or investigation. SOLUTION: The virus separator is used for separating the liquid component containing the virus collected by a virus collector for condensing water vapor included in the exhalation of the virus-infected patient from the adsorbent containing the liquid component and put in the inside of the virus collector. The virus separator is equipped with a separation tube 20 having a liquid reservoir 24 for performing centrifugal treatment and a holding member 30 installed inside of the separation tube 20 and holding the absorbent in a state separated from the liquid reservoir 24, wherein the holding member 30 is constituted to have a liquid permeable structure in order that solely the liquid component included in the absorbent moves to the liquid reservoir 24, when the centrifugal treatment is performed.
