An external electrode connection (35) is connected with a part of the electrode layers, and is formed as a folded wire. The external electrode connection is completely sealed with a sealing unit (38), which fills hollow spaces (45, 46) that are provided in the external electrode connection. A protective layer (42) covers the actuator body and the external electrode connection. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a piezoelectric actuator. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Piezoelectric actuator for a fuel injection valve i.e. injector, of a fuel injection system of an air compressed, self ignition internal combustion engine (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The external electrode connection is completely sealed with the sealing unit, which fills the hollow spaces that are provided in the external electrode connection, thus preventing formation of air bubbles in the hollow space, and hence ensuring reliable protection of the actuator, and ensuring high reliability and operability of the actuator.
