METHOD FOR DEBLOCKING IMAGE DATA AND DEVICE PROVIDING AN IMAGE PROCESSING DEBLOCKING FILTER

The invention regards to a method, especially algorithm, for deblocking image data and a device providing an image or video processing deblocking filter. According to the method two-dimensionally arranged inputted image data are deblocked by processing sub-regions of the inputted image data to provide deblocked two-dimensionally arranged deblocked image data, wherein the inputted image data are arranged into a plurality of two-dimensional image data blocks (f(a-1,b-1), f(a-1,b), f(a-1,b+1), f(a,b-1), f(a,b), f(a,b+1), f(a+1,b-1), f(a+1,b), f(a+1,b+1)), each of the image data blocks being provided by a plurality of pixels (x,y), and then at least one of the image data blocks ( f(a,b) ) is deblocked by processing its data together with at least one of shifted image data blocks (sb), wherein the shifted image data blocks (sb) partly overlaps the pixels of the image data block ( f(a,b) ) to be deblocked and partly overlaps the pixels of at least one of neighbouring blocks (f(a,b+1), f(a+1,b ), f(a+1,b+1)) surrounding the image data block ( f(a,b)) to be deblocked.
