PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize whether or not update of a control program has been successful by referring to log information. SOLUTION: This method for updating the control program of an image formation apparatus to be performed by connecting a portable storage medium to a general-purpose interface in which a program for update is stored includes a step for detecting that the portable storage medium has been connected to the general-purpose interface of the image formation apparatus; a step for confirming whether or not any program for update exists in the portable storage medium; a step for updating the control program by using the program for update when any program for update exists in the portable storage medium; and a step for creating log information in the control program update method.
