PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor prevented from being erroneously operated by water. SOLUTION: The gas sensor 1 is equipped with an element housing part 3 having a gas detecting chamber 3a into which a gas to be detected is introduced from the outside through a gas introducing opening part 3b, a gas detection element 5 arranged in the gas detecting chamber 3a of the element housing part 3, the heat conductive mesh member 6 provided in the gas introducing opening part 3b, a heater 8 fixed to a heat conductive mesh member 6 to heat the heat conductive mesh member 6 to the evaporation temperature or above of water and a heater control means 10 for controlling the generation of heat of the heater 8.
