PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capsule endoscope which is certainly separated when the capsule endoscope fixed in the body cavity is wanted to be separated from the body cavity. SOLUTION: The capsule endoscope 1 is constituted so as to be passed through the body cavity 200 to image the inside of the body cavity 200 and equipped with an endoscope main body 2 having a capsule shape, an imaging unit 11 installed in the endoscope main body 2 to image the inside of the body cavity 200, a fixing mechanism 3 provided in the endoscope main body 2 and operated by the feed of power to fix the endoscope main body 2 in the body cavity 200, and a power supply 12 for feeding power into at least the fixing mechanism 3. The fixing mechanism 3 is operated when power is fed from the power supply 12 to fix the endoscope main body 2 in the body cavity 200 and releases the endoscope main body 2 when the feed of power from the power supply 12 is stopped.
