A hybrid vehicle (100) has an engine (1), or an internal combustion engine, a motor generator (5) as a rotating electric machine used together with the engine (1) when the vehicle travels, an output shaft (3) for transmitting power to wheels (4), a transmission member (16) connected to the output shaft (3), a power distribution mechanism (11) for distributing output of the engine (1) to the motor generator (5) and the transmission member (16), a detection device for detecting irregularities of a road surface, and a control section (50) for reducing, when the result of the detection by the detection device is one that causes the output shaft (3) to produce a periodic torque change, output of the engine (1) based on the result of the detection. Thus, the hybrid vehicle does not require a torque limiter.
