An apparatus and a method for compressing and restoring a text message reducing a wrong word and improving the convenience of a user are provided to transmit information within limited text capacity by using compressed text. An input part(110) inputs signal about a function button selected by a user and inputted sentence. A display part(120) displays the sentence inputted through the input part. When the recommendation letter field exists based on the sentence which user inputs, the corresponding recommendation letter field is served. A transmission data managing part(130) manages recommendation letter selected by a sentence. A storage(140) stores a sentence table. A converting part(150) converts the recommendation letter field inputted by a user based on the sentence table stored in the storage into the compression code.
