PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous deodorant composition which can reduce a sweaty smell and a complex smell arising from an aldehyde and the like and restores no smell with time after deodorization, and to provide a deodorization method using the composition. SOLUTION: The aqueous deodorant composition contains a polyhydroxy amine compound having a specific structure and/or its salt (a), a polyvalent organic acid (b) and water. The (a) component accounts for 0.06 to 10% by mass and the mole ratio between the (a) component and the (b) component is 1.1 to 6.0 and the pH value is 6.0 to 9.5.
