PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition promoting the production of intracerebral β-endorphin. SOLUTION: This β-endorphin production-promoting composition contains at least 1 kind of a compound selected from the group consisting of linalool, l-α-terpineol, nerolidol, l-menthol, benzyl acetate, santalol and muscone, or essential oil containing the compound as an active ingredient. By combining the composition with a fragrance-related product, it is possible to impart the intracerebral β-endorphin production-promoting activity to the resultant product and also aromatizing or odor-adjusting the product. As the fragrance-related product, a basic cosmetic, a make up cosmetic, a body cosmetic, a hair cosmetic, a scalp cosmetic, an aromatic cosmetic and house-holding products such as an aromatizing deodorant, a dish-washing detergent, a cloth-washing detergent, etc., can be cited.
