PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control system for acquiring a distance from a specific crossing to a vehicle at high accuracy, and setting a more precise restart timing of a power source. SOLUTION: This vehicle control device acquires a switching time left of a signal and a distance from a specific crossing to a vehicle, when the vehicle stops at the specific crossing, where the switching time is long. The control device extends an idling stop time of the vehicle by adding a time according to the distance from the specific crossing to the switching time left of the signal, when the distance from the specific crossing to the vehicle is long like at a rear part of a vehicle line waiting for the signal. Meanwhile, the device sets the idling stop time of the vehicle according to the switching time left of the signal, when the distance from the specific crossing to the vehicle is short like at a top of the vehicle line. Thereby, the idling stop time can be set according to not only the switching time left of the signal but also the distance from the specific crossing to the vehicle. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
