PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body structure for an automobile attaining enhancement of strength against head-on collision and side surface collision while attaining light weight. SOLUTION: In a body 1 of the automobile provided with a dashboard side member 19, the dashboard side member 19 is constituted a front lower part piece 41 and a rear upper part piece 42 divided by a horizontal division line 19a and a vertical division line 19b. The front lower part piece 41 and the rear upper part piece 42 have horizontal flanges 41a, 42a joined along the horizontal division line 19a and vertical flanges 41b, 42b joined along the vertical division line 19b at an outer side in a vehicle width direction. A damper base 27 is joined to the front lower part piece 41, and a rear upper part piece 42 is joined to an inner side in the vehicle width direction of a front side pillar upper 7 in the state that both flanges 42a, 42b are overlapped on the front side pillar upper 7 in front view of the vehicle body.
