911,362. Vapour burners. VALOR CO. Ltd. March 11, 1959 [March 15, 1958], No. 8385/58. Classes 75 (1) and 75 (3). In a perforated shell type oil burner a well is provided in the wick trough and a pilot wick extends upwards from the well. The burner shown has a double trough 12 and the well 10 is formed by a pressing fitted in an opening in the floor of the double trough. The fuel supply pipe is connected to the bottom of the well. The two main wicks 15, 16 are cylindrical but have gaps at the well 10. The pilot wick 17 is of U-shape and is secured to a metal carrier disposed in the well so that the ends of the pilot wick are in the gaps of the main wicks. The carrier comprises a disc 24 which covers the well and has recessed edges for the limbs of the U-shaped pilot wick. During normal burning the fuel is maintained at the level 30 in the double trough but the supply may be adjusted to maintain the fuel at a level below the double trough so that only the pilot wick is supplied. The pilot wick may be formed as a local downward projection of the main wick. |
