<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reduction in battery efficiency of a fuel cell resulting from a short circuit between an electrode and a hydrogen permeable metal layer. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell comprises a hydrogen permeable metal layer containing a hydrogen permeable metal, and an electrolyte layer stacked on the hydrogen permeable metal layer and having proton conductivity. The fuel cell further comprises: an electrode formed on the electrolyte layer and made up of a plurality of sections that are electrically non-continuous; a collector formed on a surface of the electrode opposite to the contact surface thereof that is in contact with the electrolyte layer; and an interrupting means for interrupting the electrical connection between the collector and any of the sections short-circuited between the hydrogen permeable metal layer and itself. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
