<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for starting an engine of an automobile using a start-button without a normal car key by a correct user who is capable of start the engine by a simple of the start-button for starting the engine. <P>SOLUTION: In the apparatus and the method, it is determined whether or not plural signals including the start-button are turned on. A key FOB is requested to transmit its ID, the ID is received from the key FOB, and authentication is performed on the key FOB using the received ID when the signals are turned on. Power is provided to a starting motor and a driving signal is applied to a motor driver to drive a motor when the key FOB passes authentication. A shaft is driven according to the operation of the motor to operate a steering column and the starting motor is driven to start the engine. A safety member is inserted into a first hole of the shaft to block the shaft from moving and rotating when the engine is started. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
