<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display apparatus using polarizing glass that can cope with a large-sized liquid crystal panel, and a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate for use in the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: At least one of a plurality of polarizing plates provided at least on the light incidence side or the light outgoing side of an image display element comprises a plurality of polarizing glass in which metal particles having shape anisotropy are dispersed, and the respective predetermined regions of the plurality of polarizing glass are formed overlapping in the transmission axis direction of light or the absorption axis direction of light of the polarizing glass. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
