Disclosed is a light-emitting device using a sealing material which is composed of a polymer having high light-extraction efficiency. Specifically disclosed is a light-emitting device comprising a light-emitting element and a sealing part by which the light-emitting element is sealed. The sealing part is composed of a polymer which contains one or more kinds of structural units represented by the formula (1) below and has a refractive index of not less than 1.55. In the formula (1) below, R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a phenyl group; Y represents an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms or an alkyloxy group having 1-6 carbon atoms; and Z represents an aromatic compound satisfying a certain condition.
