A plasma display and a driving method thereof are provided to generate the discharge in stable and to improve the luminance by differently setting up the address period and the maintaining period according to the discharge characteristic of the plasma. A plasma display comprises a plasma display panel(100), a controller(200), an address electrode driver(300), a maintaining electrode driver(400) and a scanning electrode drive(500). The Plasma display panel includes a plurality of address electrodes(A1-Am), a plurality of constant electrodes(X1-Xn) and the scanning electrodes (Y1-Yn). The plurality of address electrodes spreads toward the column direction. The plurality of constant electrodes spreads toward the row direction comprised of a pair. The address electrode driver applies the driving voltage to A electrode according to A electrodes driving control signal. The scanning electrode driver applies the driving voltage to Y electrodes according to Y electrode driving control signal. The maintaining electrode driver applies the driving voltage to X electrodes to X electrode driving control signal. |
