<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the shaft tube of a writing utensil on which a grip member is easily mounted without being restricted by materials of the shaft tube with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The shaft tube of the writing utensil is formed by freely attachably and detachably mounting the grip member composed of a soft material whose external diameter in the rear end is larger than the external diameter in the central part on the gripping head of a shaft tube main body. The external diameter in the rear end of the grip part is made larger stepwise toward the rear end from the external diameter in the central part of the grip part and the inner diameter of the grip member in the rear end is made larger than the inner diameter in the central part of the grip member. The inner wall surface of the grip member is formed to an inclined or arcuate shape whose diameter is made larger from the central part toward the rear end.
