PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder capable of detecting the consumption of ink when printing an image on a recording medium and suppressing a solvent from being scattered to the outside of a machine by appropriately controlling suction amount of gas in accordance with the consumption of ink, thereby reducing the scattering of the solvent and securing stability of the image. SOLUTION: The image recorder includes a recording part 100 recording and printing the image on the recording medium P by using recording material containing the solvent and a solvent collecting means 500 collecting vapor of the solvent produced from the recording material printed on the recording medium P in a housing 50, and is provided with a control means 550 controlling solvent collecting speed of the solvent collecting means 500 in accordance with the amount of the recording material or printing area on the recording medium P on which the image has been recorded and printed.
