摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and optimal optical encoder for accurately detecting movement information such as relative position information and movement direction, used in a wide frequency range, and reducing the total number of output wires. SOLUTION: The optical encoder has a received optical signal processing section comprising current distributors 14-16, an A/D converter, an AND circuit 17, exclusive OR circuits 18, 19, 20, an amplification circuit 21, and an add circuit 22. The received optical signal processing section converts a plurality of received optical signals A-C having different phases into output signals including a plurality of signal components S1-S3 having different phases and different signal levels relative to a predetermined threshold level. A plurality of movement information can be transmitted by the output signals through a single transmission path. The movement direction of a movable body 1 can be determined by a temporal relationship between pulse rises of the phase-A signal component S1 and the phase-C signal component S3.
