摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively prevent the discharge of a large amount of a carbon monoxide caused by the deterioration of the performance of a catalyst while maintaining safety. SOLUTION: This combustion apparatus is provided with the catalyst 4 for oxidizing the carbon monoxide included in gas from a burner 1 by oxygen and reducing nitrogen oxides by the carbon monoxide, an air ratio sensor 7, and temperature sensors 32, 33 each detecting a difference between gas temperatures before and after the catalyst 4. The burner 1 has such a characteristic that a concentration ratio of oxygen, nitrogen oxides and the carbon monoxide in gas on the primary side of the catalyst 4 is a predetermined concentration ratio at a set air ratio, and the catalyst 4 has such a characteristic that a nitrogen oxide concentration on the secondary side of the oxidation catalyst 4 is substantially zero or a predetermined value or lower and a carbon monoxide concentration is substantially zero or a predetermined value or lower at a predetermined concentration ratio. When the difference between temperatures before and after the catalyst 4 is a set value or lower and NOx reduction combustion for burning the burner 1 at a set air ratio is performed, the burner 1 is burned at an air ratio set higher than the set air ratio and an abnormality of the catalyst 4 is informed.
