PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic inorganic composite material which has fine particles uniformly dispersed in a resin matrix, excellent transparency, and reduced temperature dependency of refractive index. SOLUTION: The organic inorganic composite material comprises a thermoplastic resin having a functional group capable of forming any chemical bond with inorganic fine particles at least at the polymer terminal or in the side chain and inorganic fine particles, wherein the absolute value ¾dn/dT¾ of the temperature change rate of refractive index at a wavelength of 589 nm of the organic inorganic material meets the condition defined by formula (A): 0≤¾dn/dT¾≤9×10<SP>-5</SP>.
