PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying device capable of properly carrying paper by rotating a carrying rotary body of the paper in the expected timing. SOLUTION: This paper carrying device has the carrying rotary body 41 carrying its paper by rotating by contacting with a surface of the paper 9, driving means 45 and 46 rotating the carrying rotary body at predetermined peripheral velocity, a driven rotary body 51 rotating so as to be driven by contacting with the surface of the paper carried by the carrying rotary body, measuring means 52 and 60 measuring required timeαrequired until the driven rotary body starts to rotate from operation starting time St when the driving means starts to operate when predetermined time passes from a reference signal, and a control means 60 making an adjustment for staring to operate the driving means earlier by the required time measured by the measuring means than the operation starting time.
