PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop and provide a spherical surface cutting work method capable of forming a uniform spherical surface at the end of an object to be cut by changing a conventional spherical surface cutting work method to a novel method. SOLUTION: In this spherical surface cutting work method, when cutting the object to be cut (1) mounted to a machine such as a lathe, a rotating cutter (Y) abuts on the object to be cut at a position having an appropriate angle (α) from the axial direction (X) of the object to be cut (1), passes through the axis center (1b) of the object to be cut (1) in a diameter direction (Z) from the edge surface (1a) of the object to be cut (1), and cuts toward the other edge surface (1c). The cutter (Y) is rotated by power by a driving source (not shown in drawings) such as a motor and machines the rotating object to be cut (1) by abutting thereon. After the end surface of the object to be cut (1) is machined, it has tool marks (2) cut by the cutter (Y) as shown in Fig.1(b). COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
