PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the fishing reel having a magnetic braking device dealing with casting from short casting to long casting according to various condition changes of a fishing spot. SOLUTION: The fishing reel has the magnetic braking device 20 that is equipped with a conductor 30, which is supported on a spool shaft 5 movably in the axial direction at one side of a spool 5a; a magnet 40, which is arranged in the body of the reel and is attached to the conductor 30 oppositely in the radial direction; and a centrifugal collar 23, which is moved in the radial direction with the rotation of the spool 5a, makes the conductor 30 advance or retreat in the magnetic field of the magnet 40, by utilizing the connection action between the centrifugal collar and the spool and increases and reduces the magnetic braking force that acts on the spool. The fishing reel further has an axial direction movement retaining mechanism 50, which movably retains the magnet 40 in the axial direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
