<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time from the start of encoding of image data by the unit to the end of decoding when the image data are subjected to variable length encoding and stored in a memory, and the stored encoded data are read out and decoded. <P>SOLUTION: The image data input from a scanner 101 is encoded by a JPEG encoder 102 and stored in a toggle buffer 107 of a WDMAC 104. Each time encoded data of 256 bytes are stored, writing and reading of the toggle buffer 107 are alternated and read-out encoded data are transferred to a memory 114. When an image has high compression efficiency, encoded data are forcibly read out and transferred to the memory 114 with a trigger signal from a transfer trigger generator 103 before the encoded data of 256 bytes are stored after the elapse of a prescribed time (for example, 200μsec). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
