PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power saving control system for wireless base stations for communicating with cellular phones, which can simultaneously stop supplying of transmission power in wireless base stations in a wide range such as a mountainous region, according to the states of presence inside service areas of cellular phones. SOLUTION: Each cellular phone is provided with a power-on notification sending means for generating a power-on notification signal to a wireless base station for only a short period of time, when the cellular phone detects its power-on, and the wireless base station is provided with a power-on notification detection means for detecting the power-on notification signal from the cellular phone, a power supply controller for performing control to switch on the power source of a transmitter by that detection output, and a non-detection time monitoring means which generates a signal for the power supply controller to perform control so as to switch off the power source of the transmitter, when no power-on notification detection outputs are detected within a preset period of time after the time of last-time detection of a power-on notification detection output. The wireless base station is so configured to operate saving power, if no power-on notification signals from cellular phones inside its service area are detected within the set period of time.
