PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new glycopeptide antibiotic derivative. SOLUTION: The glycopeptide compound comprising a new vancomycin derivative, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof or a solvate thereof are provided. The compound, the salt thereof or the solvate thereof exhibits antibacterial activity against various kinds of bacteria such as staphylococcus including MRSA, streptococcus, pneumococcus and enterococcus, and is also effective to vancomycin-resistant enterococcus (VRE) and vancomycin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (VRSA). As a result, the compound or the like is useful for treating or preventing the various kinds of infectious diseases such as meningitis, septicemia, pneumonia, arthritis, peritonitis, bronchitis and thoratic empyema.
