<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the degree of adhesion between a brake side outer ring and a brake side side plate and to prevent defective engagement from occurring due to the lowering of torque capacity and the mixing of foreign matter. <P>SOLUTION: This clutch unit comprises a lever side clutch part for controlling the connection/disconnection of torque to an output side by operating a lever and a brake side clutch part for transmitting an input torque from the lever side clutch part to an output side and disconnecting a reverse input torque from the output side. The brake side clutch part has an output shaft 22 to which the torque is output and a stationary side member restrained in the rotating direction. The stationary side member of the brake side clutch part has a plate-like brake side outer ring 23 having an inner peripheral surface 23b forming a wedge gap between itself and the output shaft 22 surface-finished from the axial one end toward the axial other end.
