<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, in a packet transfer apparatus, when copy processing of a packet is performed within the apparatus for the purpose of network traffic analysis or the like, it is necessary to prepare a port required for transmitting the copied packet separately from a port to be used for normal transfer. <P>SOLUTION: A packet transfer apparatus 100 includes a data analyzing unit 110, a memory control unit 109, and a control unit 104 that holds a copy condition table 113 and has a control information comparing unit 114. The data analyzing unit 110 refers to a header of a received packet to analyze control information and transmits an analysis result to the control unit 104. The control unit 104 searches the copy condition table 113 on the basis of the analysis result and transmits a search result to the memory control unit 109.
