PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inexpensive sliding members which, even in conditions where the thickness of an oil film in a contact sliding part is relatively thin, maintain sliding in the boundary lubricating region, and have high reliability, and also to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: Disclosed are the sliding members 101 sliding each other, and, the component of calcium carbonate is transferred to the sliding face 130 of at least one of the sliding members 101, and, by imparting the solid lubricating function of calcium carbonate to each sliding face 130, wear resistance and seizure resistance of each sliding member 101 are improved, and wear is reduced even in a boundary lubricating region.
