PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable driving by an operation handle reversed in a stroke starting end position of an operation piece, without complicating a structure. SOLUTION: The latch device has a latch member 3 locking on a door frame by immersibly and rockingly projecting frame a door body, a latch lock 4 for maintaining a door closing state by restricting the latch member 3 in a rocking attitude of not generating component force in the immersing direction in door opening operation, a driving link device 7 driven by the operation piece 6 moving by interlocking with the operation handle arranged on a door body obverse-reverse surface and driving the latch lock 4 in an engaging-disengaging position with the latch member 3, and a housing 8. The driving link device 7 is rotatably journaled in one end part by the housing 8. Two sets of a pair of rocking links 11 composed of two links 9 and 10 mutually rockably connected by crossing on the substantially center line between moving loci of the pair of operation pieces 6, are arranged in an interference position in both moving directions of the operation pieces 6.
