PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building hardly allowing rainwater from entering the interior of a gap between long members via the end face thereof even if the end faces of the long members are exposed to the outside. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the building, a notch end 11A that is an end of a log 11 constituting an external wall 12, has a longer protruding dimension as the log is located at a higher location, and a stepwise overhanging portion 16 is formed by the notch ends 11A. Thus a step formed at the overhanging portion 16 advantageously forms a drip portion 17 that drips rainwater adhering to the end faces of the logs 11 to a lower space. In this manner, even if a large amount of rainwater adheres to the end faces of the upper logs 11, the rainwater is released to fall from the drip portion 17 to the lower space, and therefore it is not transferred to the end faces of the lower logs 11, to thereby hardly allow the rainwater from entering the interior of the gap between the logs 11 adjacent to each other via the end faces of the logs 11 due to the capillary action, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
