PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform setting for performing graduation-coating on the boundary of an area and to easily perform coating work even if an article to be coated is a small size, a coating area is narrow and its size or the like is multi-kind, and to enhance productivity by performing an efficient coating without spending a coating time in the coating work. SOLUTION: A masking member in which a space fitted to the coating area is opened is installed between the article to be coated and a spray gun so as to be spaced from the surface of the article to be coated. Atomization coating is performed on the article to be coated through the space, and at this time, a closure matter does not substantially exist between the article to be coated and the masking member, i.e. in the open state. After the coating in which coating is performed from the space and a gradation-coating part is formed on a boundary portion at the periphery is performed, coating is performed on the coated portion so that an end of atomization is superposed from the periphery.
