A rope brake motor driving protection circuit for an elevator is provided to prevent unlimited operation of a motor by preventing operation of a motor in electrically and mechanically labile state after a predetermined setup time. A motor(270) opens a rope brake. An AC power(200) is applied at a rectifier circuit(210). The power source of the rectifier circuit is applied at a functioning order contact point(230) through a fuse(220). A motor operation relay(240) and a solenoid(260) receives the power source through the functioning order contact point only in stable state of an elevator. An a-contact(240a) is operated by the power source applied in the motor operation relay. An opening detection switch(250) receives the power source from the a-contact. The opening detection switch is opened in the complete open of the rope brake. A timer relay b-contact(280a) is positioned between the opening detection switch and the motor. The timer relay b-contact is opened by a timer relay(280) after a setup time. Therefore, the timer relay b-contact opens the interval between the opening detection switch and the motor. The timer relay is positioned between the AC power and the rectifier circuit.
