A mobile communication terminal (102) adapted to be communicatively coupled to a communication station (101) of a communication network (100), the mobile communication terminal (102) comprising a station communication unit (108) adapted for exchanging communication messages with the communication station (101), an inspection unit (109) adapted for inspecting whether a predetermined threshold condition indicative of a communication parameter is fulfilled for a present communication link between the mobile communication terminal (102) and the communication station (101), and a communication message generation unit (110) adapted for generating a communication message for transmission to the communication station (101) by the station communication unit (108), wherein the generated communication message is indicative of a desired communication mode for a subsequent communication between the mobile communication terminal (102) and the communication station (101), which communication mode is selected in accordance with a result of the inspection.
