An inkjet image forming apparatus and a method of controlling the inkjet image forming apparatus are provided to set additional resistance by using a simulating driver circuit located in a head chip to compensate for a heater driving current to thereby obtain high printing quality. An inkjet image forming apparatus includes a print head chip and a simulating driver circuit. The print head chip includes a heater driving circuit for driving multiple heaters corresponding to multiple nozzles. The simulating driver circuit simulates the heaters in order to compensate for a heater driving current difference according to the number of simultaneously driven heaters and the positions of the heaters.
