A knitted sock has regions (108), e.g. toe (114, 116), heel (118, 120) sole (121), which comprise a second fabric layer incorporated into the body region (110) by an inlay method. The two regions (108, 110) are joined by alternating interlinking stitches and can consist of different fibers, e.g. an inner layer of wool and an outer layer of cotton or synthetics. An independent claim is also included for the process of knitting a sock that incorporates local second fabric layers incorporated by the inlay method using interlinking stitches. The regions can be asymmetric to suit the wear pattern.
|
