The invention relates to a method for improving the quality of a pulp slurry (39) that is produced in a stock preparation process and is to be used for producing planar structures from fibrous materials. In order to improve the quality of the pulp slurry, e.g. obtain a bleaching effect of the fibrous materials, dilution water (24) is treated with a cold plasma or a gas discharge before being added to the pulp slurry (39).
