A mesh router and a communication path deciding method thereof are provided to make both the optical communication mode and RF communication mode possible. An optical communication part(100) demodulates the optical signals received through an optical antenna(150) into the optical communication signals, and outputs the demodulated optical communication signals to a switching unit(400). The optical communication part receives the optical communication signals from the switching unit, modulates the optical communication signals into the optical signals, and then transmits the modulated optical signals through the optical antenna. An RF communication part(200) demodulates the RF signals received through an RF antenna(250) into RF communication signals, and then outputs the demodulated RF communication signals to the switching unit. A controller(300) receives channel estimation information and communication signals from the optical communication part and RF communication part, and then determines a communication method based on the received channel estimation information and communication signal.
