A roll-feed attachment for feeding a composite of a sensitive sheet and an original into a copying machine comprises a support for a roll of the sensitive sheet, a brake for maintaining a constant tension on the sheet, and a cutter device for severing the sheet; the cutter device includes a fixed straight-edged blade and a straight-edged knife mounted on a rotatable shaft, the knife and blade being so arranged that cutting is effected progressively across the width of the sheet. The sheet of sensitive material 27 is unrolled from a supply roll 16, threaded through guides 17, 18 and on to a shelf 14. Here it is folded to include the original to be copied, and then fed under the roller 20 into the actual copying machine itself 44. The supply roll 16 is fixed at each end on a conical core 21 rotatably mounted on shaft 15. A brake member 23 also mounted on shaft 15 and adjustable thereon, has a spring-loaded pin 25 which bears against the core 21, so exerting a light braking action. The cutter assembly 32 includes a tapered cutter blade 40 fixed on a hexagonal shaft 37 having offset axles 38, 39. The cutting edge is uniformly distant from the axis of rotation. When the composite is fed into the machine 44, the cutter 32 is set in operation as soon as the end of the original is reached, and the tapered blade 40, acting against a fixed blade 29, executes a rapid severing motion across the entire width of sheet 27.</p> |
