A liquid crystal layer(3) is located between the TFT display board and the opposing display plate, and includes a biaxial liquid crystal molecule. A pixel area for displaying an image is divided into a transmissive area and a reflective area. A phase difference value of the liquid crystal layer in the reflective area has more than 25% and less than 75% of a phase difference value of the liquid crystal layer in the transmissive area.
